Classic Restoration

Restoring your classic vehicle is a huge investment and choosing the right shop is very important.   At Cruisin Auto Body, Inc. we are committed to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction. We have specially trained technicians that not only have the necessary training and experience but truly enjoy working on your classic cars.  Repairs are completed as appropriate for the vehicle:  custom metal fabrication, panel replacement with used or reproduction parts, or repair of the existing part.  Repairs are always completed with a high standard of quality.  We will refinish your vehicle with the color of your choice using DuPont paint products.  Paint colors are mixed in house so the choices are unlimited.  Custom designs can be added if requested.  All paint is polished to a mirror finish!

Estimating:

Restoration projects can be difficult to estimate because there are so many unknown repairs on any project.  This makes it very difficult to predict the cost of a restoration because we can only estimate what we can see, we cannot see under the paint, carpet, etc.  The true cost is only seen during the actual repair process and each restoration does hold its own unique challenges.  To begin the estimating process we will take numerous photos of the vehicle.  We will then obtain parts prices, estimate time for obvious fabrication/repairs that may need to be completed, estimate time for the paint process, etc.  We will discuss specific requests for your project also. With this information we will then give you a general idea of the cost to repair what we can see. When the vehicle arrives at the shop we will disassemble the vehicle and completely strip the vehicle of all paint and fillers.   At this point we can see the true extent of the repairs needed and any additional repairs can be estimated. We can also make recommendations as to the options available to complete the project and estimate a timeline for completion.  We can assist you in choosing a mechanic shop and/or upholstery shop if needed but these costs are not part of our estimate.

Auto restoration is a substantial financial commitment.  We take pride in our restorations and will take no shortcuts that may compromise the quality of the restoration.  Customers that want to complete a restoration project should be prepared for the investment.  We would be happy to review the costs with you to assist you in making your decision to proceed with the project.

Billing

All restoration projects are billed on a time and materials basis only.  A log is maintained by the employees with documentation of all time and materials used.  We will require a payment in advance to start your project account. Labor, parts and materials are drawn off the first and subsequent deposit(s) amount. When your account balance nears zero a deposit will be required for future labor, parts and materials. Maintaining a positive account balance will insure uninterrupted progress with minimal delays on your vehicle. This process continues until the restoration is complete. A monthly invoice with a summary of completed labor and purchased parts will be sent to you each month as well as a statement of your balance. The dollar amount to get started varies depending on the project. The average minimum down payment is $3000 – $5000.

A photo record of the restoration will be maintained and will be available to you at the completion of the project and/or as needed to discuss repair issues.

We will also assist in arranging transportation for your vehicle to and from our shop.
